A graduate of the Boston Architectural Center, located in Boston, Massachusetts, William began his architectural studies at the University of Kentucky, School of Architecture, in Lexington, Kentucky.  He transferred to the BAC which provided a unique program, combining academic classroom study with practical workplace experience. While studying at the BAC, William began working with Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott (SBRA) in Boston, MA.  A firm that was established in 1874 by the renowned architect Henry Hobson Richardson.  Working at SBRA established a foundational experience, and included college & university projects, libraries, healthcare and governmental GSA projects such as the National Smithsonian Museum of African and Asian Art.   William's interest in public library work and in gaining a broader practical experience in all facets of an architectural practice, led to a smaller firm environment in 1989, Nault Architects, in Worcester, MA.  With an economic downswing in the early 1990s, William moved his young family to Syracuse, NY for employment and to be closer to family.  His experience brought him to Quinlivan Pierik & Krause Architects (QP&K) and work on a new Public Safety Building project for Onondaga County.  This project was followed by a project at the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, the award-winning Hugh P. Baker Hall/Edwin C. Jahn Hall complex.   Another economic slowdown in the mid-1990s moved William into some short-term positions and consulting work while laying the groundwork for starting his practice in Syracuse.
